Cookies and Google Analytics
With your permission, this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It collects things like the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, the type of device and browser you use, and your approximate location (country or city). It does not tell us who you are.
Google Analytics only runs if you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or ignore the banner, it doesn’t load and no analytics cookies are set.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_TL3Q3PEG8W, which last up to 2 years. Google keeps this analytics data for 14 months, then deletes it. Google processes this data and may store it in the US.
Your choice is saved in your browser for 6 months. You can change it at any time with , which is also at the bottom of every page. If you change your mind after accepting, the analytics cookies are deleted.
Newsletter
If you join the mailing list, we collect your email address. It is used only to send Ben’s newsletter and is never sold or shared for anyone else’s marketing.
The newsletter is stored and sent by Mailchimp (Intuit), which keeps the data in the US. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you by emailing info@benjaminmurphy.info.
Other services
The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers when a page loads. This doesn’t set any cookies. Like most websites, our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing info@benjaminmurphy.info. If you’re unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
